Golden Autumn

Let the magical impressions that autumn in Meraner Land has in store for you capture your imagination.

Our Alpine-Mediterranean vegetation is so diverse that you will indulge yourself in the overwhelming play of colors. Vine leaves, chestnut trees, larches and evergreen conifer forests, as if painted by an artist's master hand, dominate the scenery where you immerse all your senses on an autumn hike or a bike trip. The air is clear then and offers especially high-contrast distant views – ideal conditions for touring the summits or a longer panoramic hike.

Our autumn highlights:

  • Make lots of visits to the inns all around Hafling, which invite you to rustic Törggelen – the new wine tastings.
  • The hottest days are long gone – a perfect time for horseback riding across the high plateau on our Haflinger horses.
  • Autumn – museum time. Get a profound sense of the history of South Tyrol, such as at the Tirol Castle, Schenna Castle or Hocheppan Castle exhibitions, all well worth seeing.
  • Be there when we mountain farmers bring the cattle back from the alpine meadows to the barns and celebrate the occasion in style with the Almtrieb cattle drive.

Törggelen in Meraner Land

If you visit us in autumn, a highlight awaits you that only South Tyrol can offer: Törggelen. This old custom for the young wine takes you to many wineries, farms and mountain huts for typical local dishes, full-bodied wines and meeting interesting people. Besides wine and grape must, roasted chestnuts are a delicious Törggelen favorite you shouldn't miss. For many of our guests, just watching the apple harvest at this time is already a feast for the eyes. Take a hearty bite of one of the aromatic fruits and get a Törggelen evening off to a good start.
